Staying Healthy is the Goal

Your nutrition is important, and making sure you get all of the nutrients and exercise you need is essential to changing your lifestyle for life. After a Dr. Bass sends you home with a meal plan and his best wishes, the responsibility is yours to make the right choices and follow your plan for great results.

Remember, you did not get the LAP-BAND surgery just to lose weight, but you did it to start a new life–one not controlled by food or overshadowed by weight issues. You’ve made a promise to your body that you are going to start treating it better and, in return, your body is going to lose weight and make it easier for you to do things like exercise, play with your children or grandchildren, and enjoy special moments with friends and loved ones.

Listen to your body. It will tell you what it likes and what it doesn’t. If you’re at the point in your meal plan at which you can have cheese, make sure it’s at least part-skim and high in protein. If you find you can’t tolerate a favorite food, find an alternative that will provide the nutrients you need without the discomfort that the old favorite is causing. Be aware of the food you are eating and the signals your body sends when it has had enough.

Everything you eat is for the good of your body, and keeping that in mind will keep you both emotionally and physically happy.
